We finished our route!
Our girls showed up to basecamp in the morning ready to go! We had a little chat about what we think went well and what they could do differently. They also made a list of places that they’d like to see in our route. They got to work, starting a little more south than they had decided the day before. On our new route, we will be starting with Brightsand River going into the Allanwater River and resupplying on Wabakimi Lake. But don’t worry, they decided we will have a half layover on Whitewater Lake so they have time to check out the historic cabin and see Best Island. We will end on Caribou Lake. They also decided to do a big portage! And since this portage doesn’t have a name, the girls decided to name it Meatball portage. We will be the first Voyaguers to ever have done Meatball Portage! SUPER HYPE
Later that night we had our Parent Picnic! We invited all of our girls and their families to join us for a potluck at basecamp. We ate, looked at our freshly finished route, flipped canoes, tried on packs, and much more. It was really fun being able to meet and talk to the parents of our girls and answer all of their questions, and the food was great! It was a great day altogether!
